WAPOR SSA 2024 Regional Conference: Submissions Deadline Extended to March 6

The World Association for Public Opinion Research is delighted to announce the first Regional Conference organized by our new WAPOR Regional Chapter in Sub-Saharan Africa. Conference theme is Shaping a Sustainable Future: The Lessons and Legacies from Opinion Polling in Africa. The conference will take place on April 15-18, 2024 in Mombasa, Kenya.

This first call for papers invites scholars, specialists, researchers and practitioners to contribute to the dialogue by preparing a 250-300 word abstract on any of the sub-themes listed below. Submissions can be sent to secretariat@wapor-ssa.org before the extended deadline of March 6, 2024.

  • Grassroots movements and public opinion

  • Citizen engagement through digital platforms

  • Surveys on Sustainable Development

  • The gender divide – patriarchy and African women and girls

  • Public opinion and governance

  • Human rights and public opinion

  • The environment, climate change, and public opinion

  • Researching the opinions of marginalized populations: refugees, the youth, women, and PWLDs,

  • The role of culture, ethnicity and identity in public opinion

  • News, media, journalism, and public opinion

  • New sources of information and the role of social media in public opinion

  • Public opinion and mis-/disinformation

  • Advertising online, media and audience research

  • Public opinion and diplomacy

  • Artificial Intelligence, challenges in public opinion research and survey methods

  • Digitalization in survey research.
