February 2021 – Electoral Polls in Difficult Times

The webinar focused on how electoral polls are conducted and published in different parts of the world, what political, methodological or pandemic related difficulties the pollsters face and how they work to overcome them.

The webinar featured:

  • Robert Chung, is President of the Hong Kong Public Opinion Research Institute, a continuation of the Public Opinion Program at the University of Hong Kong that he founded in 1991. He is the current vice-president/president elect of WAPOR after serving as secretary-treasurer (2006-2007) and Chair of Liaison (2010-2015). He also authored the 2012 edition of the Freedom to Publish Opinion Polls Report.

  • Jill Darling is Survey Director for the Center for Economic and Social Research (CESR), and Director of the USC Dornsife Daybreak Election Poll, at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Jill ‘s current focus is on a broad range of research using CESR’s Understanding America Study, a probability-based internet panel. She spent the first two decades of her career as a newspaper pollster with the Los Angeles Times Poll, conducting national, state, and local telephone surveys and state and national exit polls.

  • Paul Nnanwobu is CEO at Random Dynamic Resources. He has over 25 years experience in market, opinion and social research. He is the Publisher of Research Intelligence Magazine, and currently the Nigeria Representative for WAPOR as well as the current Secretary General of the Nigerian Market Research Association. He holds a post Graduate degree in Journalism and an MBA in International Business.
