How To Think About Visualizing Data

Data visualization is an important tool for researchers, both for exploring data and communicating results to others. Modern visualization tools cannot work miracles of discovery or magically make researchers honest, but they can help us do better work. In this talk I review some principles of good visualization and discuss examples of how they can be implemented in practice.
