WAPOR IT and Administrative Assistant: Open Position
The World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR) is seeking to engage an Information Technology and Administrative Assistant (ITAA) to work in close collaboration with and to support the WAPOR Executive Director (ED).
The ITAA is a 50% assignment, with 20 hours per week expected by WAPOR. The exact distribution of efforts throughout the weekdays can vary depending on the specific needs of the Association at the moment and is to be discussed between the ITAA and ED.
ITAA shall be employed by WAPOR as an independent contractor and shall work remotely. The Assistant will report to and assist the WAPOR’s Executive Director (ED). The Assistant and the ED shall meet at least once per week via Zoom and exchange emails on daily basis.
The position is first announced for 6 months and can be renewed upon the mutual agreement of parties. Renumeration: $1500-$2000 per month depending on the skills and experience. The Assistant’s position is subject to a performance review, with participation by the ED, the President and the Vice President-President Elect.
Requirements for the Assistant’s position: (1) a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field; (2) fluency in English and, ideally, one other language (preferably Spanish), and (3) good knowledge and experience of working with HTML, CSS and association management systems (AMS).
Main duties of the Assistant will include support to the ED in the following areas on a regular or as-needed basis:
- Update of the content and improvement of functionality of the WAPOR website (www.wapor.org) under the supervision of the ED, including creating new features, design elements, updating various membership lists and event calendars.
- Develop working knowledge, configure and maintain WAPOR membership database, membership portal and conference software (currently powered by Rhythm), including improving their interface for individual and organizational membership registration; friends of WAPOR registration; submission and review of conference abstracts; registration of conference participants, sponsors etc.
- Addressing inquiries from members and troubleshooting technical problems which they experience with the membership and conference processes at the WAPOR membership portal.
- Support WAPOR Committees and Regional Chapters (Asia-Pacific, Latin American, Sub-Saharan Africa, West Asia-North Africa) when these requests are relevant to WAPOR’s central functions (website, membership list, membership and conference portal).
- Support social media of WAPOR (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) under the supervision of the ED, including creating tailored and interactive content.
Further tasks might be performed on the occasional basis, and include support to the ED in:
- Preparing materials for the Council and Executive Council meetings.
- Participation in the Council and Executive Council meetings, meetings of WAPOR Committees.
- Support with planning and organization (foremost – technical and IT aspects) of WAPOR annual conferences.
Additional responsibilities may be added in a mutually agreeable manner between the ED and the Assistant.
