Call for Applications: ESRA-WAPOR Student Support Award

The European Survey Research Association (ESRA) and the World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR) are pleased to announce the creation of the ESRA-WAPOR Student Support Award, designed to support students from each organization in attending the other organization’s main conference.

Objective

This award aims to strengthen collaboration between ESRA and WAPOR while supporting the next generation of researchers. This initiative provides an opportunity for students to present their research, attend sessions, and participate in workshops, fostering academic exchange and building international networks. The ESRA conference meets every two years while the WAPOR conferences meet every year. Therefore, a total of four students from each organization will be supported over a two-year period. More concretely, four ESRA-affiliated students will be supported for the 2025 and 2026 WAPOR conferences (i.e., 2 students each year). Correspondingly, four WAPOR-affiliated students will be supported for the 2025 ESRA conference.

The first awards will be presented in the year of 2025. An ESRA-WAPOR Joint Selection Committee will evaluate the applications and select the winners. According to the results, two winning ESRA student members will be supported to participate in WAPOR-2025 conference in St. Louis, USA on May 12-15, 2025. Respectively, four winning WAPOR student members will be supported to participate in ESRA-2025 conference in Utrecht, the Netherlands on July 14-18, 2025.

Award Benefits

Selected recipients of the ESRA-WAPOR Student Support Award will receive the following:

  • Conference fee waiver: The award covers the full conference registration fee for the respective event, including all sessions and panels.
  • Membership fee waiver: The award also includes a one-year student membership to the other association.
  • Training workshops / short course waiver: The award covers attendance of training workshops at WAPOR conference or short courses at ESRA conference as follows. WAPOR attendees can attend two courses. ESRA attendees can attend two short courses (one from the morning and one from the afternoon).
