Call for Papers – WAPOR–Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Chapter Conference 2026

The WAPOR–Sub-Saharan Africa Conference 2026 brings together scholars, practitioners, and policy experts engaged in the study of public opinion across the African continent. Taking place 13–14 May 2026 in Lagos (Ikeja), Nigeria, the conference offers a forum for critical exchange on how public attitudes, beliefs, and values are shaped amid rapid political, economic, technological, and social change.
Under the theme “Public Opinion Research in Africa: Navigating through the prism of global transformation”, the conference invites contributions that examine both long-standing and emerging questions in public opinion research. Topics include elections and voting behavior, governance and political legitimacy, socio-economic perceptions, inequality, media and trust, digital platforms, artificial intelligence in survey research, migration, climate change, gender dynamics, and the evolving role of technology in data collection and citizen engagement. The full list of sub-themes reflects the diversity of methodological, regional, and theoretical approaches shaping contemporary public opinion research in Africa.
Researchers are invited to submit abstracts of 250–300 words aligned with any of the listed sub-themes. Submissions should clearly state the research question, approach, and contribution. Abstracts must be sent to secretariat@wapor-ssa.org no later than 28 February 2026.
Participation is open to academics, survey professionals, policy analysts, and students. Interested participants are encouraged to register or obtain further information through the WAPOR-SSA website or by contacting the conference secretariat directly.
