• Janet A. Harkness Student Paper Award Competition
    Proposals due by May 15

    The World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR) and the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) request submissions to be considered for the Janet A. Harkness Student Paper Award, as part of the program for WAPOR’s annual conference in 2020. This award is given in memory of Dr. Harkness, distinguished cross-cultural survey methodologist, who passed away in 2012. 

    Paper topics must be related to the study of multi-national/multi-cultural/multi-lingual survey research (aka 3M
    survey research), or to the theory and methods of 3M survey research. To find out more, click here. The deadline for submissions is May 15, 2020.

  • WAPOR 73rd Annual Conference and WAPOR LATAM 9th Congress
    October 2020 - Salamanca, Spain

    The World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR) will hold its 73rd Annual Conference together with the WAPOR Latin American (LATAM) Congress on 6-9 October 2020 in Salamanca, Spain. The WAPOR conference will convene before and overlap with the 9th LATAM Congress. This year's conference theme is Public Opinion and Survey Research in Changing Times.

  • 2019 WAPOR-ASIA Conference in New Delhi, India
    Conference wrap-up

    The WAPOR-ASIA Second Annual Conference was held in New Delhi, India from September 26 to September 29, 2019. The theme of the conference was, “Digital Democracy: The Scope and Limitations of Digital Advancement on Democratization in Asia.”

    The conference featured WAPOR Workshops Day, where participants learned about new challenges to public opinion polling and the opportunities that arise in the face of rising digitization, from renowned experts from around the world. The workshops were followed by two days of various panels on subjects such as political participation, public opinion, attitudes on issues, and media use.

    The WAPOR 72nd annual conference featured an Innovation room -fully booked during the three-day conference- with seven round tables that allowed for more participation and peer to peer exchange on a range of important topics from Democracy 3.0, to regaining trust in polling and how in our profession we can better work together. WAPOR advances its mission through various efforts including studies of election polling and infringements on polling; regional and international conferences; white papers, press releases, and workshops; and our refereed journal, the International Journal of Public Opinion Research. We also promote international cooperation and exchange among academic and commercial researchers, journalists and political actors, as well as between the representatives of the different scientific disciplines. With the American Association for Public Opinion Research and ESOMAR, WAPOR has collaborated on an international effort to train journalists interested in understanding and reporting on public opinion research.
